Earlier this Friday evening, the air defenses of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) successfully shot down a Bayraktar Akinci drone within the airspace of Nyala, South Darfur State, following its execution of indiscriminate aerial bombardments targeting residential neighborhoods that claimed the lives of dozens of innocent civilians.
The Akinci drone is a long-range, high-payload attack aircraft, the use of which reflects rather blatantly—the intransigent insistence of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) terrorist operating under the Islamic Movement on deploying lethal weapons to target innocent civilians, in flagrant violation of all international and humanitarian norms.
Our forces reiterate their full readiness to confront this form of aerial threat. Our air defenses have consistently demonstrated exceptional effectiveness, and our fighters have proven their competence in neutralizing the dangers posed by such drones, thereby mitigating the potential harm that could befall the population.
We warn the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) that hijacked by terrorist Islamic Movement of the repercussions of persisting in its deliberate targeting of innocent civilians. We stressed that our forces reserve the right to respond immediately and decisively utilizing means of our choosing at a time and place of our determination, deep within the strongholds and military command centers of the terrorist SAF.
We affirm that such ventures will not go unpunished, and that our valiant RSF soldiers will continue to defend our people by all possible means until terrorism is decisively defeated, security and peace are fully restored across the homeland, and the Sudanese State is rebuilt upon new and just foundations.
