MEIDA STATEMENT
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) categorically deny the allegations circulated by some media reports that our forces committed violations against civilians in the Darfur region, including false claims of mass detentions or financial extortion of civilians by demanding ransom from their families.
Our forces affirm that the report published by The Washington Post, which it claims is based on “horrific testimonies from survivors in difficult circumstances,” is nothing more than fabricated and recycled narratives, promoted for well-known political motives in desperate attempts to undermine the reputation of our forces.
Our forces reiterate their full commitment to protect civilians and safeguard their security, as they are the rightful owners of the cause for which we struggle for seeking justice for marginalized communities, end societal injustice, and work toward dismantling the dominance of the terrorist Brotherhood regime over the military institution and the reins of government in Sudan.
Our forces also call on local and international media outlets to
be accurate and professional and rely on credible sources, particularly in light of the current political complexities and the attempts of the Port Sudan clique to adopt a misleading approach and fabricate false narratives, including exploiting innocent people and buying consciences to serve their narrow political agendas.
