Statement on the Third Anniversary of the April 15 War
On the third anniversary of the April 15 War, our country enters its fourth year engulfed in a devastating war ignited by the terrorist Islamic Movement and its military arm, in a desperate attempt to crush the will of the Sudanese people, derail their glorious revolution, and restore the regime of oppression and tyranny against which our people rose and sacrificed to overthrow. This war has brought Sudan nothing but ruin, devastation, and profound human tragedy. Its catastrophic consequences continue to intensify with each passing day, as the forces that ignited it persist in a path of systematic destruction, reject any genuine efforts toward a just and comprehensive solution, and drive the country toward the brink of total collapse.
This war, ignited by the enemies of the revolution and the Port Sudan coup faction, has claimed the lives of tens of thousands of innocent civilians and the displacement, migration and asylum of millions of our people. In addition to widespread destruction across cities and villages, infrastructure and state institutions, and the basic necessities of life.
The parties that ignited the war were not satisfied with all this destruction; rather, they continue to pursue deliberate policies aimed at tearing apart the national fabric, inciting strife among the diverse components of the Sudanese people and fueling hate speech and division. These actions form part of an overt and deliberate project that seeks only to fragment the country, prolong the war, deepen the suffering of citizens, and impose a new political reality by force at the expense of the Sudanese people’s aspirations for freedom, peace, and justice.
The sincere alignment of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) with the demands of the glorious December revolution marked a pivotal moment in Sudan’s modern history and played a decisive role in bringing down the defunct Salvation regime. Since that time, our forces have maintained a firm and unwavering stance, serving as an impenetrable bulwark against attempts by the Islamic Movement and the Muslim Brotherhood to return to power, despite the conspiracies plotted, the misinformation spread, and the persistent efforts to drive a wedge between our forces and the revolutionaries and the true forces of change.
This painful anniversary comes as our people continue to wage their decisive struggle against injustice and tyranny, steadfast in their legitimate right to freedom, peace, and justice. It is sustained by a deep belief that the immense sacrifices made by the Sudanese people will not be in vain, and that the project of despotism no matter how entrenched or renewed remains destined to fail. It also comes at a time when our forces are engaged in a war of self-defense against a dark authoritarian project seeking to drag Sudan back into the grip of corruption, exclusion, and domination, and aims at dismantling the gains of the revolution and denying Sudanese citizens their right to build a just, balanced, and inclusive state.
We in the Rapid Support Forces, as we reflect on this occasion and the deep wounds inflicted by the war, affirm that our national and moral responsibility compels us to remain fully committed to the cause of our oppressed people. We reaffirm our determination to end this war and all wars in Sudan on new foundations that address the root causes of the historical crisis rather than merely its symptoms. Sudan will not rise through the recycling of failure, nor through compromise with the forces that ignited the war and obstructed democratic transition. Instead, it will rise through a new national project grounded in justice and equality, the recognition of diversity, the end of marginalization, the dismantling of tyranny, and the establishment of a democratic civil state that embraces all its sons and daughters without discrimination or exclusion.
On this anniversary, we call upon the living forces of the revolution and all sincere national actors to re-examine the Sudanese scene with clarity, awareness, and a deep sense of historical responsibility, and to be vigilant against the ongoing conspiracies aimed at undermining the project of change, derailing its course, and restoring the forces of regression and authoritarianism. National unity around a new founding vision and the goal of the revolution is now an urgent and unavoidable necessity that demands moving beyond narrow interests and fully committing to the future of Sudan and its people.
We reaffirm to our great people across cities and villages, in displacement and refugee camps, and in every place where they endure the suffering of this tragedy that we are advancing with firm determination to end the wars in our country, lift injustice, and bring an end to suffering. Together with all sincere national forces, we will work to build a new Sudan: Sudan of justice, freedom, and equal citizenship; Sudan of sustainable peace where human dignity is upheld, rights are protected, grievances are redressed, and every citizen has a fair opportunity to participate in power, wealth, and the shaping of the nation’s future.
The war ignited by the forces of regression and the enemies of change will not break our resolve, will not turn back the clock, and will not erase the memory of the revolution or dim the aspirations of the Sudanese people. On the contrary, the sacrifices of our people will remain the driving force behind the march toward national liberation, and the will of the free Sudanese people will continue to prevail over all schemes of oppression and domination until full victory is achieved for a Sudan rooted in freedom, social justice, and comprehensive peace.
