The Rapid Support Forces has closely followed the allegations circulated regarding the targeting of civilians in the city of El Fasher, and affirms in the strongest terms that these claims are unfounded and have no basis in truth. The parties actually endangering the lives of innocent people are the militias of the terrorist Islamic Movement and the mercenaries of the armed movements, who have consistently used civilians as human shields in a desperate attempt to hinder the advance of our forces.
Everyone who has followed the course of events knows that our forces have been, and remain, the most committed to safeguarding the lives of civilians in El Fasher. Previously, we opened humanitarian corridors through the areas of (Garni – Hillat Al-Sheikh – Shaqra – West Golo), through which more than 800,000 citizens were evacuated to the areas of Tawila, Kurma, Shangil Tobai, and others, in well-documented humanitarian operations carried out in full coordination with the Tasis Alliance Forces. Humanitarian committees were also formed to provide assistance to hundreds of thousands of citizens after their evacuation to safe areas.
The facts on the ground confirm that these militias are the ones detaining residents and using some of them as human shields, while forcing others, under pressure and coercion, to join what is known as the “Popular Resistance.”
We categorically reject and fully refute these accusations. We call on the international community and envoys not to be drawn into the lies propagated by the platforms and mouthpieces of terrorism and “armed mercenarism” after their forces suffered severe defeats at the hands of our heroes, who move forward with unshakable resolve toward the liberation of the entire territory of our country from the grip of extremism and terrorism, and toward opening a new chapter in our country’s history — one whose title is peace, justice, and democracy.
We also call on the international community, diplomatic missions, and the media to verify information carefully and rely on credible sources before adopting or disseminating any reports, and not to be swayed by propaganda campaigns aimed at distorting the facts on the ground. The Rapid Support Forces reaffirms its commitment to continuing to open safe corridors for the departure of civilians from El Fasher to other, safer areas, and to providing them with full protection. We also welcome the departure of military personnel and pledge to treat them in accordance with the principles of international humanitarian law. We further affirm our keenness to end the conflict in a manner that achieves security and stability, paves the way for comprehensive peace, lasting justice, and a firmly established democracy for our people.
