RSF condemns the SAF's bombing of the Wad Al-Baqa Dam in North Kordofan

As part of a repeated and systematic approach of targeting civilians and civilian objects, Wad Al-Baqa Dam in El Obeid, North Kordofan State, as well as the bridge linking the cities of El Dalang and El Obeid, and previously Ardamata Bridge in West Darfur, were attacked by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) that operates under the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group using drones, in crimes that reflect a dangerous escalation in the pace of violations against civilians objects.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) strongly condemn these serious crimes and systematic violations against civilians and civilian objects, which constitute a flagrant violation of international laws and norms, particularly the rules of international humanitarian law, which strictly prohibit attacks against civilians and civilian objects. Such acts amount to a full-fledged war crime requiring accountability and the prevention of impunity.

The RSF confirms that targeting civilian objects and bridges reveals a grave disregard for human life and public infrastructure, and places the international community before its legal and moral responsibilities to take urgent action to stop these violations, ensure effective protection for civilians, and launch independent and transparent investigations to hold those responsible accountable.

The continued targeting of civilian objects will only deepen humanitarian tragedy and call for a firm stance by all regional and international actors to put an end to these repeated crimes and violations.
