On Thursday evening, the Air Defense Units of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have shot down a Turkish-made Akinci drone over the city of Nyala in South Darfur State, as it was trying to target innocent civilians, as part of a series of attacks carried out by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) that operates under the so-called terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group, committing grave violations, most recently included the targeting and shelling of hospitals and public markets in the Al-Zuruq area in North Darfur.
Our forces affirm their high level of readiness to confront aerial attacks and their ability to protect civilians from the repeated attacks carried out by the Muslim Brotherhood army through near-daily drone airstrikes targeting residential areas, public facilities, infrastructure, and hospitals, in flagrant violation of international laws and norms.
We once again call on the international community, regional organizations, and human rights bodies to condemn these heinous crimes and to take immediate action to stop the repeated attacks on populated civilian areas.
We further affirm that our forces will remain steadfast in their decisive approach of monitoring and field vigilance to protect cities and villages and ensure the security of citizens. We also stress that we will not allow any threat that endangers the safety of the homeland or the lives of innocent people.
