The RSF condemns the ongoing massacres targeting the residents of Canabe

The heinous crimes of ethnic cleansing and killing based on identity and color have continued for the fourth consecutive day following the incursion of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and their allied Islamic Terrorist Movement militia into the city of Wad Madani and other areas, notably (Al-Kanabi) in the state of Gezira. These brutal campaigns have led to the execution of hundreds of individuals, alongside forced detentions, torture, assaults on women and humiliation of the elderly.

The soldiers of the Sudanese Armed Forces, their affiliated militias from the Islamic Movement battalions, mercenaries of armed movements, and the Sudan Shield militia, have documentated the crimes they have committed against innocent civilians. These crimes include executions, horrific methods of abuse, such as shooting by fire squads, beheadings, and the disposal of bodies of victims by throwing them into the Blue Nile River. Such actions constitute full-fledged evidence to condemn these extremist groups.

War crimes and crimes against humanity constitute flagrant violations of international human rights laws and the rules of warfare. They necessitate imposition of appropriate penalties for the perpetrators of these acts of genocide, in accordance with Article 77 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

The ethnic cleansing carried out by members of the SAF, and its affiliated militias mirrors the historical crimes of genocide witnessed globally. This crime surpasses in its brutality the previous acts of genocide committed by the terrorist regime of the National Congress throughout Sudan.

Our forces are aware that international humanitarian law protects civilians during wartime. However, the consequences are catastrophic when international agreements are disregarded or when the parties responsible for ensuring protection fail in their duties, sometimes due to complicity. This failure paves the way for further violations, including killings, destruction, starvation and forced displacement.

We call upon all international organizations to fulfill their duty in addressing these atrocities and urge free media to highlight the genocide of civilians.

We are aware that the strategy of SAF operating under the Islamic Movement and its militias is to forcibly displace populations from certain areas. This displacement takes ethnic dimensions as part of a systematic plan executed through crimes of ethnic cleansing, currently underway, utilizing tactics of pressure, intimidation, and persecution.

We affirm that our forces will not stand passive in the face of the expansion of these grave crimes against the Sudanese people. We will continue, by all legitimate means, to defend the rights of the oppressed peoples of Sudan. We are capable to confront the plots, as we did with the attempts to crush the people's revolution and obstruct the democratic transition. We are committed to the liberation of the entire country, end the tyranny and retribute against the killers, and most of all eradicate their terrorist regime once and for all.
