RSF welcomes the launch of the humanitarian conference in support of Sudan,

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) welcome the launch of the High-Level Humanitarian Conference in Support of the Sudanese People. This vital initiative, organized in collaboration between the African Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the United Arab Emirates, and the participation of the United Nations, alongside a number of countries, regional and international organizations.

We express our full support for this significant event, which takes place along alongside the ongoing thirty-eighth African Union Summit in Addis Ababa. This conference aims to mobilize essential support and funding for humanitarian efforts in Sudan. We highly appreciate the international and regional initiatives that are coming together to address the escalating humanitarian crisis in our country, a direct consequence of the war instigated by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and remnants of the former regime on April 15, 2023.

Sudan faces numerous humanitarian challenges that require greater engagement and support from the partners and humanitarian organisations. We consider the proceedings of the Addis Ababa conference today as a crucial opportunity to enhance solidarity and cooperation in addressing these pressing challenges in our country.

We avail this opportunity to reaffirm our forces' full cooperation with all efforts and contributions to this conference. We also extend our sincere gratitude to all partners from sisterly and friendly countries, as well as to the United Nations’ family, the African Union and IGAD. Additionally, we commend the generous support announced by the United Arab Emirates, which has pledged $200 million to address humanitarian needs in Sudan, along with contributions of $15 million from Ethiopia and $1 million from the Republic of Kenya.

We look forward to delivering support and assistance to those affected, including internally displaced persons (IDPs), refugees, and communities impacted by the ongoing humanitarian crisis. We also call for strengthening joint efforts to overcome the challenges.

We are fully confident that this humanitarian conference will play a vital role in improving the humanitarian situation during this critical period in our country’s history. We laud all participants for their efforts and pledge to actively respond to the conference's recommendations, implementing all measures that can alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.
