The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and its extremist backers from the former regime continue to perpetrate the most heinous crimes against innocent civilians. Early this morning, SAF warplanes conducted yet another round of brutal airstrikes against the local population in the areas of Melit and Khazan Gadid in North and East Darfur states.
These indiscriminate aerial bombardments resulted in the deaths and injuries of dozens of unarmed civilians, including women and children, according to preliminary reports.
Rescue operations are still underway.
The SAF and its jihadist minders from the former regime continue to wage their scorched-earth policy that involves slaughtering innocent civilians and ravaging vital infrastructure. This futile strategy is a testament to their deep-seated frustration amid countless battlefield defeats, exposing their undeniable recognition that their strategic acumen is fundamentally flawed.
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) condemns these barbaric acts, which clearly violate international law and the Geneva Conventions. We call upon the international community and our regional partners to denounce these crimes against humanity. The RSF will not stand idly by in the face of terrorism. We will persist in our fight until we have eradicated the former regime and its ideology of corruption and hate so deeply linked to the Islamic Movement.
The criminal and cowardly acts of the opposing force operating out of Port Sudan have resulted in the tragic loss of innumerable civilian lives and the devastation of essential infrastructure. The RSF will take decisive steps to annihilate these terrorists once and for all and to liberate our people from their chaos and tyranny.
